- ACCT 041 Accounting I 0.25cr
There are several possible reasons for taking this course. One may be that you want a career in accounting—you want to be an accountant. There are multiple accounting positions out there; you could work in a private company, a corporation, a public accounting firm, or a government agency. The career options are unlimited. However, even if you don’t want to be an accountant, you will be affected by accounting. No matter what profession you decide upon, you will need to learn how to assess revenues and costs and how to make a profit. You will need to learn that decisions you make affect your ability to continue operating. Even at home, you will benefit by learning how to manage your finances.
- AUTO 043 Automotive Basics 0.25cr
This course is designed to accomplish two goals. First, it is to give you basic knowledge of automobile systems and how they work together to make your car run. Second, it is to prepare you to make educated decisions about maintaining your vehicle. Believe it or not, you have the ability to maintain your vehicle in good running condition without paying huge fees to service technicians! There are some things that you and I cannot do because of our limited resources, but you might be surprised to learn what you can do. Two of the biggest benefits of doing these things yourself are the amount of money you will save and the confidence you will have in yourself.
- CHLD 041 Child Development I 0.25cr
Studying child development helps us to take better care of children. This is important for current or future parents, as well as anyone who comes in contact with children. There are many occupations that involve working with children. Just a few of these are pediatrics, social work, day care work, and school bus driving! It is easier to work in these professions, and others, if you understand children.
This course builds upon the developmental standards studied in level one.
The most important, far-reaching, and long-lasting influence you will have in your whole life will come from your work as a parent. Doing a good job of raising children ought to be one of life’s most important accomplishments. Big challenges and big rewards are all rolled together into one of the most demanding, all-consuming jobs you’ll ever have. Some people give more attention to buying their next car or CD player than they do to preparing for parenthood!
Sewing machines have amazing capabilities, and you will receive a brief introduction to some of those capabilities during this course. Many fashion designers and home decorators can sew; they may have others do the work for them, but their knowledge of clothing construction helps them better understand the process that leads to the desired finished product. On the other hand, others use their sewing skills to alter clothing for others, to sell handicrafts online, or to do service projects. Sewing gives you the ability to create your own clothing, fix ripped clothing, create homemade decorations for your house, or alter clothing from the store.
